Frequently Asked Questions
How can you have an adventure in a library?
Libraries are special places filled with adventure. There's a new one inside each and every book. I spent hours at the library growing up, and I still do today. Libraries are great places. They are free. They have books, movies, cd's, books on tape, records, and special programs like puppet shows, story times, and book clubs. Check out your local library to see what they have to offer!
Does 'The Greatest Encyclopedia' really exist?
Maybe!
Why did you write about chocolate?
When I was a kid, I lived right down the road from a huge chocolate factory. Many mornings were filled with the aroma of warm chocolate. The smell was so thick I could almost taste it in the air. Perhaps that delicious memory is what inspired me to write Chocolate! as my first Library Adventure.
What is your favorite kind of chocolate?
Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate! I love it all.
Do you write other stories?
I write almost every day. I write picture books, chapter books for kids, and sometimes I even write stuff for grown-ups.
My picture book, Bedtime Monster, is coming out in 2009 from Raven Tree Press.
What else do you like to do besides write?
Most importantly, I love to spend time with my family. We do lots of things together. We love to cook, read, play games, ski, swim, fly kites, make art; stuff like that. I also like to do volunteer work which I do mostly at ...you guessed it ...my local library. And I just got a job as a substitute librarian. Now I get to spend even more time at the library!
